ST. LOUIS -- The President Casino in St. Louis, scheduled to give up its license and close by next week, is shutting down early because of flooding.

The casino has been closed because of the flooding Mississippi River since June 18. The river Thursday was 4 feet above flood stage and rising.

As a result, STLtoday.com, the website for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports that owner Pinnacle Entertainment is officially closing the casino.

Pinnacle hasn't yet decided what to do with the century-old Admiral Riverboat that houses the casino, the first gambling operation in St. Louis.
