PASADENA PARK, Mo. (AP) -- A suspect is in critical condition after apparently accidentally shooting himself during a skirmish with St. Louis County police.
Police aren't identifying the 23-year-old suspect from St. Louis.
The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. An officer determined that a car at a convenience store had been stolen. Three men were in the vehicle.
When the officer approached, one of the men took off running. A second officer came to help track down the suspect.
When they got to the man he refused to cooperate and one officer reached for his stun gun. That's when the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at the officers.
Police say the man tried to shoot at officers, but instead, the bullet struck the suspect in the head.
