St. Louis man seriously hurt in Scott County crash

A St. Louis man suffered serious injuries in a crash early Wednesday morning on Interstate 55 in Scott County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

Andre L. Johnson, 25, was driving a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta south on Interstate 55 just south of mile marker 85 at about 3:50 a.m. when his vehicle struck the rear of a southbound 1999 Chevy Malibu driven by Mary P. Lejeune, 67, of Pass Christian, Miss., before traveling across the centerline and into a cable barrier, the report stated.

Johnson, who according to the report was not wearing a seat belt, was seriously injured.

Lejeune was wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries, the report stated.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
