St. Louis man charged with making threats against Sikeston police

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Charges that he made threats against the Sikeston Department of Public Safety have landed a St. Louis man in jail.

Frank Boyd IV, 22, is charged with making terroristic threats after he called the Sikeston Communications Center at 1:20 p.m. Friday and began using profanity while threatening DPS officers, according to Sgt. Jim McMillen. "The man appeared to be serious in his threats and this prompted an immediate investigation," said McMillen in a news release.

Reportedly Boyd was upset after DPS arrested a relative on Friday.

Detectives learned the suspect had traveled from St. Louis to the Cape Girardeau area. On Saturday, investigators discovered the man was in Sikeston.

According to McMillen, Boyd's vehicle was stopped in the 200 block of West Gladys.

"DPS acted quickly in apprehending the man due to the seriousness of the threats and the added credibility of him traveling to Sikeston from St. Louis," said McMillen. "The suspect was arrested and officers located the man's cell phone in the vehicle that was used to make the call."

Boyd, whose bond was set at $5,000 cash only, currently remains in custody awaiting his arraignment.
