A St. Louis man fired a shot through the floorboard of a car after he demanded more money from two victims, according to a statement from Cape Girardeau police.
Cape Girardeau police arrested Stan L. Ford, 22, on Nov. 22. The Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged Ford with first-degree robbery, second-degree domestic assault, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.
Ford started arguing with the female victim Nov. 22 in an apartment in the 600 block of Boxwood Drive over $300 he had loaned her for her car, according to a probable-cause statement filed by officer Jonathan Brotz. Ford pointed a finger in her face when she said she could not pay, and then she grabbed a baseball bat and pushed Ford away, Brotz wrote.
Ford threatened her with his gun and punched her in the head three times, according to the statement.
When the victim fled to the bathroom, Ford shoved her head into the bathtub, pointed his gun at her head and told her she had three things to say before she died, Brotz wrote.
The victim left the apartment and approached a green Ford Expedition a male friend was driving, according to the statement. Ford got into the passenger side of the car, continued to argue with the female victim and threatened to shoot her, then fired a shot into the back floorboard, according to the statemen, Brotz wrote.
Ford and two other men went inside the victim's apartment and took $100 from her wallet, Brotz wrote.
Ford demanded the man driving the Expedition drive him to an ATM and give him $300, according to the statement. Ford later left the area with $300 and his belongings, Brotz wrote.
Ford told police he shot his 9 mm pistol through the car's floor but did not rob either victim, Brotz wrote.
Cape Girardeau has had three robberies in two weeks. Cape Girardeau police arrested Elizabeth Heilman on suspicion of robbing Chocolate Works on Nov. 17. A male victim was robbed of his watch by a gunman in the early morning hours Saturday on Water Street, Sgt. Adam Glueck said.
Two people were shot Nov. 19 in the 600 block of Boxwood Drive. Glueck said police have not made any connections between that shooting and the incident with Ford.
