ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis home sales see the biggest drop in the nation.
The Associated Press-Re/Max Monthly Housing Report was released Monday. It shows that home sales in the St. Louis metro area declined 63 percent in October, compared to a year ago. Meanwhile, prices dipped 9 percent. The median home price in the St. Louis area is now $132,000.
Home sales fell in all but two of 12 Midwestern metropolitan areas that were surveyed. The exceptions were Minneapolis and Detroit. Both have seen dramatic surges in foreclosures, big price declines and buyers taking advantage of deep discounts.
