HAZELWOOD, Mo. (AP) -- A St. Louis County man is facing charges for allegedly attacking a registered sex offender with a hammer.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/nZOaJv) reports that 29-year-old John Joseph Huffmaster is accused of approaching a neighbor who is a registered sex offender, saying he wanted to borrow some sugar. Instead, he allegedly pulled out a hammer and attacked the man.
Huffmaster told police he was "doing God's work" in trying to get rid of sexual predators. He is charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Authorities say he has a history of behavior disorders. He does not yet have an attorney.
The man who was attacked was not seriously injured.
