PARKVILLE, Mo. -- A St. Joseph man was injured Thursday when a freight train hit his pickup truck on private property just north of Kansas City. Police said Craig McCormack, 29, was conscious and alert after the wreck but was taken to North Kansas City Hospital with internal injuries. The accident happened at 10:23 a.m. as McCormack drove into the parking lot of a landscaping supply company. The driveway is crossed by the railroad tracks, and the train's engineer and conductor said it appeared that McCormack was unaware of the oncoming train, police said.
The locomotive hit McCormack's truck in front of the driver's door.
