Ten scholarships for the 1993-94 academic year have been awarded by the St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary to students pursuing health care careers.
The scholarships are awarded annually based on financial need and the willingness of recipients to sign service contracts in which they agree to work at least one year on a full- or part-time basis at St. Francis.
This year's scholarship winners are:
- Cathy Schloss of Cape Girardeau, pursing an associate degree in nursing, recipient of this year's Mark F. Scully Scholarship.
- Jim Shafer of Thebes, Ill., who intends to become a registered nurse, recipient of a Sisters of St. Francis Memorial Nursing Scholarship.
- Bobbie Kohlfeld of Cape Girardeau, enrolled in a bachelor of science in nursing program, winner of a Sisters of St. Francis Memorial Nursing Scholarship.
- Linette Welter of St. Louis, who is enrolled in a bachelor of science in nursing degree program, winner of this year's Bess Estes Scholarship.
- Diane Clayton of Anna, Ill, pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing degree, winner of a Dr. Raymond and Lillian K. Ritter Scholarship.
- Tonika Smith of Cape Girardeau, who is working toward her bachelor of science in nursing degree, winner of a Dr. Raymond A. and Lillian K. Ritter Scholarship.
- Diana Schaefer of Jonesboro, Ill., who is enrolled in a bachelor of science in nursing degree program, recipient of this year's Lucy Ellen Towse Memorial Scholarship.
- Bernadette Hannaford of Cape Girardeau, a student in a bachelor of science in nursing degree program, winner of the Clara D. Newnam Memorial Scholarship.
- Brenda Thompson of Jackson, a pharmacy student, winner of the St. Francis Auxiliary Healthcare Scholarship.
- Rose Pridemore of Sedgewickville, who is enrolled in respiratory therapy studies, recipient of the 1993 Huttegger/Scherer Memorial Scholarship.
