ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) -- A St. Charles police officer is dead after crashing his patrol car on his way home from work.
The wreck at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday killed officer Grant Jansen, a 20-year law enforcement veteran who spent the last 13 years with the St. Charles department.
Police say the accident happened in St. Peters. Jansen's car ran off the road as he was returning home after the end of his shift. The cause of the crash is under investigation by St. Peters police.
Jansen was 42. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
