"Spending an evening square dancing will give you the same amount of exercise as walking eight miles, and you'll have more fun," Fluegge said.

Western-style square dance classes consist of four-couple squares. Lessons are needed to learn calls. All ages are welcome to the classes.

Lessons begin Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau. The first two lessons are free. For more information, contact Elbert and Rose McLard, 243-1526, or Dean and Betty Osbourne, 334-9295.
