Jackie Sproat of Marble Hill has been named editor of the Jackson USA Signal.

For the past year, she was editor of the Banner-Press in Bollinger County.

Sproat was a news and features writer for the Capaha Arrow at Southeast Missouri State University where she majored in English and theater.

Sproat was a sports writer for the Daily Statesman in Dexter in the 1980s. She has edited and published nationwide magazines for the historical re-enactments community.

Sproat has also been named editor of the Scott County Signal in Chaffee. Both weeklies are owned by Rust Communications.

"I'll be working to make both papers more community-oriented," Sproat said. "I'm looking forward to spending time in the areas they serve and writing news and feature stories for our readers."

Sproat is a 1989 graduate of Dexter High School. She is married to Jay Sproat and they have two sons.
