A few seats remain for Thursday's hands-on Internet training.
Southeast Missouri State University and the Southeast Missourian newspaper are co-sponsor hands-on Internet training sessions for beginners.
The class will be held from 1-3 p.m. in Room 103 of Dempster Hall on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.
Cost of the session is $10, which must be paid in advance at the Southeast Missourian, 301 Broadway. Parking passes can be picked up at that time.
Participation is limited to 40 people per session.
The two-hour course introduces the Internet, its terminology and explains what the Internet is and how it works.
The program is designed for beginners or those with limited Internet experience. SEMissourian.com staff will be on hand to help participants get comfortable with computers. Those attending will surf the Net before they leave.
Registrants will receive handouts on surfing sites for work and fun, Internet tips, and a stress ball in the shape of a computer.
Interested persons should contact Joni Adams or Peggy Scott at 335-6611 or 1-800-879-1210.
"We're really excited about sponsoring these classes in the Dempster Hall," said Joni Adams, project director of SEMissourian.com, the official web site of the Southeast Missourian.
The Missourian's web staff sponsored six such classes in May and June with participants ranging from teen-agers to 80 years old.
Another beginner class will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, also from 1 to 3 p.m. Registration is being accepted for that class. Or participants may register for the beginner class to be held Nov. 13 or Dec. 11.
Evening classes have yet to be scheduled. A waiting list will be started for future sessions.
