Tom Eftink is proud to nominate Eva Marie Dunn for the prestigious Spirit of America award.
Eva was born in Marble Hill, Missouri, the second of 11 children. She graduated valedictorian from Leopold High School, and then graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau with a bachelor of arts degree in speech communication, minoring in music.
She was hired as president and director of Bollinger County Library, where she expanded the library and added many computers for everyone to use. She has story hour every week at the library for children, and also each week takes books to the four public schools in the county.
Eva was instrumental in starting the Bollinger County Museum of Natural History in Marble Hill. With other volunteers, Eva restored the former Will Mayfield College for the museum. It now holds the Missouri Dinosaurs. She is currently president of the museum.
She is married to Charles Dunn, who served in the Air Force 20 years. They have three children, Charles, Daniel and Amanda. Eva, Charles and their family live on a small farm near Marble Hill.
