With the passage of Monday's federal spending legislation, U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson and Sen. Kit Bond announced funds heading toward much-needed projects for Southeast Missouri.
The omnibus appropriations bill, which passed in the House by a vote of 242-176, contains spending measures for agriculture, health and education, transportation, the Veterans Administration and housing, and the federal departments of commerce, justice and state.
The following are Southeast Missouri projects recommended by Emerson and Bond and the funding they will receive:
$1.5 million to Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus construction.
$250,000 to Southeast Missouri State Universtity's expansion of the registered nurse education program.
$1.5 million to Southeast Missouri State University's NASA Educator Resource Center.
$175,000 to Cape Girardeau for the floodwall mural.
$250,000 to Scott City for an access ramp.
$240,000 to the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force.
