Easter Seals of Southeast Missouri has announced Spellathon '98. The event encourages good spelling in children and raises money for the local Easter Seals.
First through sixth graders in all public, private and home schools can participate. Students gather pledges for each word spelled correctly on the Spellathon '98 test, which will be administered by their teacher.
Easter Seals provides the spelling list and all other materials, including prizes, to participating schools.
Students earn prizes based on the amount of money they raise.
For information, call Charles R. Martin, regional executive director for Easter Seals.
