More than $42,000 was raised Feb. 6 at the Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics. Penny Williams, executive director of the state Special Olympics' southeast region, said the money will be put to good use this weekend as the district Special Olympics basketball tournament begins in Cape Girardeau.

More than $42,000 was raised Feb. 6 at the Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics. Penny Williams, executive director of the state Special Olympics' southeast region, said the money will be put to good use this weekend as the district Special Olympics basketball tournament begins in Cape Girardeau. There are several divisions. To volunteer, call Williams at 339-6733. Tickets are not needed at any venue. Venues are the Osage Community Centre, Southeast Missouri State University Student Recreation Center and Trinity Lutheran School. Games begin at 8 a.m. Sunday.
