CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Charles Quilty, who visited Jordan and Iraq late last year, will speak tonight at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 1900 Cape La Croix Rd. at 7 p.m. He will talk about his experience there and show slides.
A member of the "Cross the Line" national delegation, Quilty spent 10 days in the two countries. The delegation delivered nearly 1,000 pounds of medicine to hospitals and refugee camps.
The U.S. Fellowship of Reconciliation sponsored the mission. Since that time, the new York-based group has established the Civilian Casualty Fund to assist in medical care for civilian casualties of the Persian Gulf War. Medical supplies it purchases will be distributed directly to institutions treating the casualties.
Quilty's local visit was sponsored by the Southeast Missouri Fellowship of Reconciliation.
