ST. LOUIS Spartech Corporation (AMEX-SEH) has announced that its fiscal 1990 earnings were $4.2 million, or 80 cents a share.
Lawrence M. Powers, chairman and chief executive officer, said the earnings included a $1.5 million gain from the sale of the company's Burlington, N.J., compounding facililty.
This compares to a net loss of $2.2 million in 1989. The 1990 earnings reflected a $3.3 million loss from unusual nonrecurring expenses.
Bradley B. Buechler, president and chief operating officer, said 1990 was a turnaround year for the company's continuing operations.
"Interest costs were reduced through reduction of senior debt," he said. "Our compounding units posted significant improvements over 1989 results and our rigid sheet segment performed at strong volume levels compared to 1989."
Two Spartech operations are located here, Atlas-Alchem Plastics, One Atlas Drive, and Resin Exchange, Nash Road Industrial Park.
