Former Cape Girardeau resident Andrew Whaley tonight will launch "Spare Cup," a campaign that will provide free coffee for people who ordinarily could not afford to go to an espresso bar.
Whaley, who now lives in Los Angeles, is the founder of Coffeeboy Espressoculture.
Customers of retailers using Coffeeboy espresso can buy a cup of coffee to be consumed at a later time by people who might like to spent time at a coffee house -- college students, single mothers or seniors on fixed incomes -- but cannot afford to. Coffeeboy will donate an additional cup of coffee for every cup donated by a customer.
A reception formally launching the program will be held from 5-8 tonight at the Grace Cafe, 117 Themis St.
Whaley also will demonstrate the espresso presentation methods of Northern Italy.
Complimentary food and coffee will be served.
