Southwestern Bell has been named corporate sponsor of the annual Business Conference co-sponsored by Southeast Missouri State University College of Business Administration and the University Relations Committee of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.

Craig Felzien, area manager of community relations for Southwestern Bell, announced Bell's corporate involvement.

"Business Survival for the '90s," is the topic of the April 7 conference at the Show Me Center.

Luncheon keynote speaker will be Gov. Mel Carnahan, who will discuss the future of business, industry and education in Missouri.

Other speakers include C. Britt Beemer, chairman of America's Research Group, and Daryl Hobbs, director of the University of Missouri office of social and economic data analysis.

Beemer is back by popular demand. A year ago he discussed ways to stimulate business. Beemer's presentation will be at 9:45 a.m.

Hobbs, professor of rural sociology, will discuss "A Changing Consumer Profile" at 8 a.m.

The conferences will start at 8 a.m. and end about 1:30 p.m. Carol Keeler of KZIM radio will serve as program moderator. Cost of the seminar is $40 per person, including lunch.

8-9:30 a.m. Hobbs.

9:30-9:45 a.m. Coffee break.

9:45-11:45 Beemer, "Competing with Man Merchandisers: Survival in the '90s."

Noon-1:30 p.m. Carnahan.
