Voters in Pulaski and Union counties picked members for a number of school boards Tuesday. In Pulaski County, voters elected three people to the Meridian School District Board of Education and four to the Century School District Board of Education. Robert A. Voters in Pulaski and Union counties picked members for a number of school boards Tuesday.

In Pulaski County, voters elected three people to the Meridian School District Board of Education and four to the Century School District Board of Education.

Robert A. Spaulding was the top vote-getter among the seven candidates in the Meridian school board race in Mounds. Also winning four-year terms were Kevin Mize, 261 votes; and Stacy Powers, 214 votes.

The other candidates and their vote totals: Roziene Dumas, 205; John Dee Mathis, 153; Erma Terry, 118; and Homer Horn, 53.

Five candidates competed for four seats on the Century school board in Ullin.

Enloe Clemons Sr. led the pack, with 257 votes. Also winning four-year terms were Bob Reichert, 229 votes; Chandra Anderson, 224; and Kenneth Taake, 205 votes. Lawanda Nicholson received 192 votes.

In Union County, voters turned out for a number of contested school board races.

In Lick Creek Grade School District No. 16, where three seats were up for grabs. DuWayne Glasco led voting with 133 votes. Also earning terms on the board were David Nave, 120 votes and Von E. Tripp, who received 118 votes.

Kennith Pinnon pulled 94 votes.

Four board members were chosen from seven candidates for the Anna-Jonesboro community High School District No. 81.

Chuck Neal led voting, winning 893 votes. Also earning seats on the board were Ronnie Mays, 769 votes; Jimmy Keller, 738; and Ernest Russell, 687 votes.

Other candidates in the race were Kenneth K. Kapper, 395 votes; Carl "Bob" Dover, 591 votes; and Greg Lonergan, 423 votes.

Voters in Dongola Unit School District No. 65 picked four school board members.

Brenda Hogue led voting with 385 votes. Also winning board seats were Fred Terbrak Jr., 268 votes; Catherine Stone, 252; votes and Duane Hoffner, 227 votes.

Other candidates and their vote totals were John P. Schmidt, 138; Peter A. Renda, 200; Steven C. Hoffman, 131; Carlyn Light, 100; Gregory A. Wasuleski, 125; and Tony Ulrich, 132 votes.

Incumbent Richard B. Schaefer led voting in the race for the Shawnee Community Unit School District No. 84 school board race with 75 votes.

Also winning seats on the board were Jeanne E. Hill, 49 votes; Robert A. Henson, 63 votes; and Larry DeRossett, 42 votes.

Defeated candidates were Debbie Hileman, 20 votes; Cheryl A. Davis, 31 votes; Brenda Webb, 33 votes; Rollie Matlock, 23 votes; and Theresa Taylor, 30 votes.

Four board members were chosen in the Cobden Community Unit School District No. 17.

Crystal L. Cerny led voting with 310 votes. Also winning seats on the school board were Charles R. Stewart, 308 votes, Brian K. Lukes, 252 votes and Alan J. Flamm, 237 votes.

Ruthie Smith lost her bid for election, garnering 206 votes.

In some school districts, there was no competition.

There wasn't a contested race in the Jonesboro Community Consolidates School District No. 43. Relis Oliver, Danny L. Parr, Don Choate and Jerry Dillow were all elected to four-year terms.

Candidates in the Anna Commuity Consolidated School District No. 37 had no competition. Joe Wohlwend, Mark A. Livesay and Norine Keller all won four-year terms.

There wasn't a contested race for the Regional Board of School Trustees where three candidates were running for the three seats.

Ben Cauble and Barbara Throgmorton of Union County and Larry Mizell of Johnson County were elected to the six-year terms.

And there was no contested race for Shawnee Community College District No. 531, where William Whitnel, Steve Heisner and Richard D. Trampe were all elected to serve six-year terms.
