PERRY COUNTY, Mo. -- Two Southern Illinois men were involved in a fatal crash Tuesday afternoon in Perry County. PERRY COUNTY, Mo. -- Two Southern Illinois men were involved in a fatal crash Tuesday afternoon in Perry County.

The accident occurred at about 5 p.m. on Highway 51, north of Perry County Road 259, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. Nathan M. Perez, 34, of Chester, Ill., was driving his 1993 Honda Accord northbound when he crossed the centerline into the path of a southbound 1999 Dodge Ram driven by Gary A. Rednour, 48, also of Chester.

Perez, who was wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Perry County Coroner Herb Miller. Rednour received serious injuries and was flown to Barnes Jewish hospital in St. Louis.
