A Hunger Banquet at Southeast Missouri State University has been rescheduled for 12:30 p.m. April 12 at the University Center ballroom.

The two-hour banquet was first slated for March 5, but was postponed because of inclement weather.

The event, designed to educate guests on global and area hunger issues, will be interactive and includes dinner.

Jamie Jones, a teacher with the Cape Girardeau School District, will speak during the banquet about malnutrition in the classroom and how it affects education.

Francis Tayie, a professor at Southeast, will share experiences from his childhood in Africa, where he relied on the World Food Programme for meals during a severe drought.

Tickets still are available at $6 each for nonstudents. Student entry is free. All proceeds will benefit the Southeast Missouri Food Bank and The Salvation Army.
