Southeast Missouri State University will celebrate its century-old landmark, Academic Hall, during the homecoming celebration this weekend.

The theme of this year's homecoming is "Same Places, New Faces."

Saturday's homecoming parade, which kicks off at 9:30 a.m. at Capaha Park, will include floats depicting Academic Hall through the decades.

The parade will proceed east on Broadway from West End Boulevard to Main Street. It then will continue south on Main Street.

Former regent Doyle Privett of Kennett, Mo., will serve as parade marshal.

Several homecoming events will occur in and around Academic Hall, school officials said.

Several marching bands will perform in Academic Auditorium in what's being called "Rock the Dome." The musical entertainment will start at 11 a.m.

A picnic and pep rally will be held on the lawn terraces east of Academic Hall, starting at 11 a.m. The festivities include relay races for children.

The homecoming football game against Murray State University will kick off at 1 p.m. in Houck Stadium.

Friday, Oct. 28

* Copper Dome Society and alumni Merit awards dinner, 6:30 p.m. at the Show Me Center.

Saturday, Oct. 29

* Alumni breakfast, 7:30 a.m. at the Student Recreation Center South Campus, formerly the First Baptist Church activities center.

* Parade, starting at 9:30 a.m. at Broadway and West End Boulevard and proceeding east on Broadway.

* "Rock the Dome" event featuring marching bands performing in Academic Auditorium starting at 11 a.m.

* Picnic and pep rally on the lawn terraces east of Academic Hall, starting at 11 a.m. Golden Eagles Marching Band will perform at noon.

* Southeast will provide shuttle service to bus visitors from the Show Me Center parking lot on Sprigg Street and the Centenary United Methodist Church lot at 300 N. Ellis St. to Academic Hall for the 100th birthday celebration and to Houck Stadium for tailgate activities after the parade.

* Several university tailgate parties are scheduled, including the College of Education's second annual chili cook-off at 11 a.m. The Southeast Booster Club will hold its tailgate party at noon at the stadium's Booster Corral.

* Homecoming football game against Murray State University will kick off at 1 p.m. at Houck Stadium.

Sunday

* Alumni can enjoy the "Everything New in Cape Girardeau" bus tour, starting at 9:30 a.m. from the Wehking Alumni Center. Dr. Frank Nickell, director of the Center for Regional History, will conduct the tour.

* Alumni Association will host a farewell brunch at the Johnson Faculty Centre from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
