Eighteen area students were awarded scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University last week.
Twelve students earned the President's Scholarship which is awarded to high school seniors who score a 24 on the Enhanced ACT or have a grade-point average of 3.5. The scholarship is worth $1,200 per academic year.
Area recipients were Andrea K. Welker, Tiffany J. Biggerstaff, Eric L. Hasty, Courtney A. Boren and Sheryl R. Robinson, all of Cape Girardeau Central High School; Zachary S. Beussink of Notre Dame High School; Lora E. Fornkahl, Rachelle J. Brown and Emilie K. LeFebvre, all of Jackson High School; Trisha C. Weber of Scott City High School; Mark A. Winchester of Delta High School; and Michael G. Cook of Chaffee High School.
Six students received the Regents' Scholarship, which covers full-time fees for at least eight semesters.
It is awarded to high school seniors who earned an Enhanced ACT score of 27 or who are in the top 10 percent of their class.
Area students who earned this award were Jessica A. Winkler of Jackson; William R. Hamm of Chaffee; Nadia M. Sauer of Cape Girardeau; Christopher B. Vetter of Benton; Trevor J. Lovett of Charleston; and Sarah E. Adams of Cape Girardeau.
All students are expected to graduate in 1996.
