Southeast Missouri State University's fund-raising foundation will present Guy and Claudine Pinckley of Allardt, Tenn., with the 1999 "Friends of the University" award.
The Southeast Missouri University Foundation will present the award Oct. 9 at the annual Copper Dome breakfast at 7:30 a.m. in the Student Recreation Center.
The award is presented annually during Homecoming weekend.
Guy Pinckley has been a member of the Harry L. Crisp Bootheel Education Center Advisory Board since the center opened in Malden in 1988.
As a partner of Falcon Communications in Malden, he has encouraged his employees to attend the education center and has established a program to pay for their education.
Claudine Pinckley has organized annual fund-raising dinners for the center that have helped to raise $1 million in seven years.
"Guy and Claudine have been pivotal in helping to raise private funds and, more importantly, in providing vision and leadership in the development of the Crisp Center," said Wayne Davenport, vice president for university advancement and executive director of the university's foundation.
The Pinckleys are active in community affairs and have been named Malden's "Citizen of the Year."
They serve as directors of the Bootheel Youth Museum. Together, they have coached soccer and basketball for the Optimist Club's children's program. They also are member of the university foundation's President's Council.
Guy Pinckley was born in Louisville, Ky., and attended public schools in Kentucky and Tennessee. He has served 30 years as a partner of Falcon Communications in Malden.
Claudine Pinckley attended schools in Clarkton and Malden. She is vice president of Malden State Bank.
She is the past president and director of the Malden Chamber of Commerce, the past director of the Malden Community Board and the Dunklin Red Cross, a member of the Malden Betterment Committee of the Downtown Merchants Association, and the neighborhood chairman of muscular dystrophy, cancer and heart drives.
