A local production of Jerry Herman's most popular songs from his 33-year career will come to life in the form of a musical revue titled "Jerry's Girls."

The revue, under the direction of Dennis C. Seyer, associate professor of Speech Communication and Theatre at Southeast Missouri State University, will take place at the Rose Theatre Saturday and Sunday.

Ellen Seyer is serving as musical director, choreographer and performer in the production. Ann Swanson of Jackson is rehearsal and show pianist.

Herman burst on the Broadway scene as its youngest creater of music and lyrics with the successful "Milk and Honey", and was nominated for a Tony and Grammy award.

He won Station WPAT's Gaslight Award for "Shalom" as best song in 1961. The much acclaimed "Hello, Dolly!" came next, and in 1964 he won the coveted Tony award and both Variety's Best Composer and Lyricist Awards for his score.

Herman was recently elected into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Theatre Hall of Fame.

In 1987 he was presented with the Johnny Mercer Award. On March 25, 1987, he became the only composer/lyricist in history to have had three musicals that ran over 1,500 consecutive performances on Broadwaay.

Admission to the revue is $5 for non-students and $3 for students, senior citizens and university faculty and staff.

In addition to the performances at the Forrest H. Rose Theatre, the show will tour the four-state region with stops in Dyersburg, Tenn., June 2, Hickman, Ky., June 3, Sesser, Ill., June 4, Ste. Genevieve June 5 and Malden June 6.
