Southeast Missouri State University students have redesigned Magill Courtyard as part of a landscaping and turf management class. Magill Courtyard previously had only grass, three trees and two shrubs. Students cleaned and made adjustments in the courtyard, solicited donations and planted 25 new shrubs and more than 100 different perennials. A brick patio, benches, a rock planter/fountain, trellis and bird bath were also installed. A student will be charged with maintaining it...

Southeast Missouri State University students have redesigned Magill Courtyard as part of a landscaping and turf management class.

Magill Courtyard previously had only grass, three trees and two shrubs. Students cleaned and made adjustments in the courtyard, solicited donations and planted 25 new shrubs and more than 100 different perennials. A brick patio, benches, a rock planter/fountain, trellis and bird bath were also installed. A student will be charged with maintaining it.

Students enrolled in the spring 2005 course will extend the courtyard's handicapped ramp, making the ramp surface harder and the courtyard more accessible for anyone wanting to use it.

The courtyard was redesigned under the direction of Dr. Derald Harp, assistant professor of agriculture.
