The sights and sounds of Rue Bourbon, one of the most famous streets in the world, will be re-created Nov. 10 when the Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation hosts its annual Southeast Showcase at the Show Me Center.

The musical heritage of New Orleans-style blues and the color and gaiety of Mardi Gras promise to make the event a festive salute to the Crescent City.

Now in its sixth year, the showcase features food and beverages from more than 40 area restaurants and vendors plus entertainment.

Tickets for the event are $35 each and can be purchased by calling the foundation office at 651-5510.

More than 1,200 people attended last year, raising more than $33,000.

The grand prize giveaway is a trip for two to New Orleans. Other prizes include two Swiss Army knives and a double cassette recorder.

Food and beverage booths will be open from 6 to 8:30 that Thursday night, entertainment will continue and beverage booths will remain open until 11.

The Water Street Six will provide Dixieland jazz from 6 to 8:30, followed at 8:45 by '70s and '80s rock 'n' roll by New Odyssey.

The latter group performs elaborate shows consisting of dance music, comedy routines and skits and the members play 30 different instruments.

Co-chairwomen of Showcase '94 are volunteers Cherie Herbst and Linda Tewis.
