The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Public Safety will undergo an evaluation of its organizational structure through Jan. 1. Subsequently, a decision on hiring a new director of public safety will not come until after the New Year, Southeast

Missouri State News Bureau director Ann Hayes said.

Beth Glaus is serving as the director of the department. Her most recent position was assistant director for support and civilian personnel, Hayes said.

Former public safety director Doug Richards resigned for retirement effective Dec. 1 after he was arrested and cited for driving while intoxicated and failure to stay in one lane Nov. 13 near Pacific and Good Hope streets.
