Southeast Missouri State University has a new chairman in its Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling.

Since Jan. 1, Dr. C.P. Gause has been leading the department that offers degree programs in educational administration, school and mental health counseling and higher education administration. He replaced Dr. Ruth Ann Roberts, who was serving as interim director before she retired, according to a news release.

Gause said he has big plans for his tenure at the university.

Not only does he want to promote learning opportunities for students, but "I would like to facilitate partnerships in Brazil and create other new international partnerships," he said.

Before joining Southeast, Gause worked as an associate professor of higher education and director of doctoral graduate studies in education at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

Gause has a Ph.D. in educational leadership and administration from Miami University, a master's degree in educational administration from the University of South Carolina at Columbia and a bachelor's degree from Trinity International University. He began his professional career in 2002 at Winthrop University in Columbia.
