LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. -- The Missouri Press Association presented second place for newspaper Web sites and third place for religion coverage to the Southeast Missourian on Saturday.

The winners were announced at the MPA convention at the Lake of the Ozarks.

The Southeast Missourian's Internet edition, at semissourian.com, finished second to the Hannibal Courier-Post. The Joplin Globe's web site finished third among all newspapers in the state.

Laura Johnston won second place for best coverage of religion, finishing second to Jess DeHaven of the St. Joseph News-Press. Johnston has been the newspaper's features editor since last year.

The Southeast Missourian took third place for best front pages. The Kansas City Star was awarded first, while the Columbia Missourian won second.

Honorable mentions were also given to the Southeast Missourian for news content and family living coverage. Photographer Stephan Frazier received honorable mention for best sports photo.
