The Notre Dame soccer team had gone to the state final four in Jacob Pewitt's first three years of high school.
The senior made sure to make it four trips in a row.
Pewitt assisted on teammate Ke-Ke Kellum's tying goal in the Bulldogs 3-2 quarterfinal win over Bishop DuBourg before scoring the winning goal with just 4 minutes, 39 seconds left in the game.
"I couldn't describe it," Pewitt said of his emotions after scoring the go-ahead goal. "It was just amazing. I was speechless."
Joe Froemsdorf, who assisted on the goal, spotted Pewitt in the middle of the field.
"Then he split off wide," Froemsdorf said. "I created a little space and I hit the gap, and he was lucky enough to finish it. It was a nice finish. He's so fast, he gets so many opportunities a game. He finishes a lot of them."
According to Pewitt, it was Froemsdorf who did the hard work.
"Joe made it really easy for me," Pewitt said. "All I had to do was tap it in. I didn't really think about it. I just wanted it more than the keeper did. I just wanted to put it in real bad."
