Southeast Missouri State University is reporting that classes will be in session beginning at noon Monday on the main campus because of a power outage that began Saturday and continues to affect most of the campus.
The university reports the campus community can expect to remain without power until approximately 6 a.m. Monday.
A problem with the university's main power transformer caused the outage. Ameren UE, outside contractors and Facilities Management are currently working to install a new transformer.
Meals for students are being served in the Towers complex cafeteria, which is running on a back-up generator.
Additionally, two other campus facilities, the North and South Student Recreation Centers, have power and will stay open until 11 p.m. Sunday night to accommodate students who wish to participate in recreation activities.
