The Belleville News-Democrat reported Carden and the village tentatively agreed to settle a complaint in which he sought at least $100,000 in damages. Online records don't indicate the amount.

St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly said his office reviewed the case but declined to file charges against the accused officer. He no longer works for the department.
