BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- A Broseley, Mo., man is expected to appear in a Stoddard County courtroom this week on multiple charges stemming from an alleged pursuit with Dexter, Mo., police officers in which he struck their patrol cars and sent them to the hospital.

Christopher Kirk Lloyd, who is being held in the Dexter City Jail, should be arraigned Thursday before Associate Circuit Judge Joe Satterfield on two Class A felonies of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, two unclassified felonies of armed criminal action, two Class D felonies for first-degree property damage and the Class D felony of resisting arrest.

Lloyd, who Satterfield ordered to be held without bond after finding Lloyd poses a danger to the community, was charged Saturday by Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney Briney Welborn following the incident, which began at about midnight when Dexter police patrolman Kevin Moore attempted to stop Lloyd's Nissan pickup for a suspected ordinance violation.

"Upon activating his emergency equipment, the vehicle would not stop and attempted to elude Patrolman Moore," Detective Trevor Pulley said in his probable cause statement. "While Patrolman Moore was attempting to stop the vehicle, (it) backed into (his) patrol car (2008 Ford Crown Victoria bearing DPD-3) at Locust and Taylor, causing damage to the patrol unit."

At about 1:05 a.m., Lloyd then "intentionally rammed his Nissan truck into Lt. Charles Sanders's patrol unit (2009 Ford Crown Victoria bearing DPD-915) causing injury" to Sanders, as well as what was described as substantial damage to the patrol car, Pulley said.

Lloyd's truck allegedly continued east on West Truitt and was forced into a ditch, Pulley said.

Once the vehicle came to a rest, Pulley said, Lloyd allegedly ran from the truck and was taken into custody without incident.

According to Pulley, both Moore and Sanders were taken to Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter for treatment what earlier had been described as of minor injuries and later released.

The 23-year-old also reportedly was taken to the Dexter hospital for evaluation and subsequently released.

At about 3:30 a.m., Pulley said, Lloyd was interviewed and "admitted he fled from law enforcement because he had warrants."

Lloyd had two active warrants for his arrest, Pulley said. They were a Poplar Bluff municipal failure to appear warrant for possession of marijuana and a Butler County warrant for second-degree property damage. He also reportedly is wanted on a Butler County failure to appear warrant for theft/stealing.

During the interview, "Christopher admitted to striking two patrol units during the course of the pursuit," Pulley said. "(He) also admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana prior to the pursuit."

At the time of his arrest, Lloyd was on probation after his release in June from the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Initially Lloyd was placed on probation after he pleaded guilty to the Class C felony of distribution of not more than 5 grams marijuana in February 2009 in Stoddard County; however, he had his probation revoked in February.

At that time, he was sentenced to five years in prison, with suspended execution of the sentence, and it was recommended he be placed in the 120-day shock incarceration program. Upon his June release, Lloyd was put on a new three-year term of supervised probation.
