Five Southeast Missouri Hospital employees received gifts and 25-year employee pins during the Southeast Missouri Hospital awards banquet, held this week at Drury Lodge.
Commended for 25 years service were Shirley Beel, of the dietary department; Opal Gast, a surgery nurse assistant; Shirley Griffin, central service assistant; Mary Popp, radiology transcription; and Charlotte Wade, registered nurse, a nursing house supervisor. Gast could not be present for the ceremony.
A total of 158 hospital employees were recognized for a total of 925 years of services during the hospital's employee awards banquet.
Commemorative pins in recognition of 15, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service were presented by hospital administrator James W. Wente.
The annual event, held during National Hospital Week, also featured a video presentation of the hospital's newly adopted "Statement of Values."
The theme for 1992 National Hospital Week was "Your Health, Our Care." Established in 1921 by Matthew O. Foley, editor of Hospital Management, the special week is now sponsored by the American Hospital Association and its 5,000-plus member hospitals.
Thirteen employees were recognized by the hospital for having reached the 20-year service milestone. They are Brenda Crites, pharmacist; William Dubbs, neurophysiology lab director; Emma Feiste, labor/delivery technician; Harriet Friese, nurse assistant, 3-West; Alma LeGrand, nurse assistant, nursery; Carol J. Lehmann, secretary, admitting; Myra Morris, pharmacy assistant; Charles W. Reed, dietary department; Linda Rogers, surgery unit secretary; Ellen Seyer, nursing float unit secretary; Dorothy Shoulders, nurses assistant, surgery; Lula Simpson, data processing supervisor; and Norma Trickey, nurse assistant, surgery progressive care unit.
In addition, 13 employees were honored for 15 years; 33 for 10 years and 39 for five years of services at Southeast.
