The Arthur W. Harrison and Louis Hecht Board Room was dedicated Monday at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

The room is named for the fathers of Cape Girardeau businessmen Donald L. Harrison and Martin Hecht, who gave a combined gift of $75,000 to the Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation to memorialize their fathers.

Arthur Harrison, who died in 1945, was one of the hospital's seven original incorporators, serving on its board from 1926 until his death in 1945. He was president of the board from 1937 until 1945.

Louis Hecht was one of four community leaders added to the board when the hospital was incorporated with 23 members.

He served until 1949, when he became a honorary member of the board. Though residing in Las Vegas, he maintained that position until his death in 1988.

The board room was completed in January 1991, but the donation was made to the hospital's current $1.7 million capital campaign for the East Clinical Services Addition now under construction.

Guest speaker at the dedication ceremony was John L. Blue, a member of the hospital's Board of Trustees since 1957.

The hospital's current capital campaign drive now totals $1,225,000.
