Southeast Missouri State University has entered into an agreement with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to establish a transitional middle school certification program on the Southeast campus.
The program will provide course work to Missouri public school teachers in grades 5 to 9 to qualify them for middle school certification requirements.
The university received $19,000 under Senate Bill 380 to fund the program and to provide 200 semester hours of financial assistance. Under the agreement, Southeast will offer courses beginning in the spring 1995 semester in middle school philosophy and organization, curriculum and instruction and psychology.
Courses will be offered at night and on weekends. Middle school teachers interested in the program may call 651-5965 for information.
