MURRAY, Ky. -- Southeast Missouri State University's soccer season came to and end Tuesday as host Murray State posted a 1-0 victory in the first round of the six-team Ohio Valley Conference tournament.

The third-seeded Racers will carry an 8-10-1 record into Friday's tournament semifinals in Birmingham, Ala. Sixth-seeded Southeast, which lost to Murray State 1-0 in double overtime on Oct. 17 in Cape Girardeau, finishes at 11-6-2.

Lacey Ford scored the game's only goal 17 seconds into the second half. It came after Southeast keeper Amanda Wrzos stopped a shot by Jamie Roche. Ford, who was in the box, put the ball in the net off the rebound.

Southeast had several chances later in the half to tie the contest, taking five shots on goal, but all were turned away by MSU keeper Annie Fortier, who recorded nine saves in the shutout.

Wrzos, who earlier in the day was named the OVC defensive player of the week after her fourth shutout of the season over the weekend, made 10 saves.

The evenly played game featured a 15-14 MSU edge in shots, while Southeast held an 8-7 advantage in corner kicks. The physical contest included 40 total fouls and five yellow cards, with three against Southeast and two on MSU.
