SOUTHEAST DEBATE SQUAD SUCCEEDS AT TOURNAMENT
The Southeast Missouri State University Debate Squad had a strong showing at the Billiken Invitational Debate Tournament Jan. 27-30 at St. Louis University. Squad member Mike Easley, a senior from Cape Girardeau, and Tina Schaefer, a squad member and junior from Crestwood, combined to finish third in the novice division of the tournament. Squad member Mike Easley, a senior from Cape Girardeau, and Tina Schaefer, a squad member and junior from Crestwood, combined to finish third in the novice division of the tournament. Novice divisions are open to debaters with less than two full semesters of debate experience.
Easley and Schaefer defeated teams from Northern Illinois University, Wright State University, Miami (Ohio) University and Webster University before losing to William Jewell College in the semifinal round.
