Southeast Missouri State University has announced plans for winter graduation. The university will confer degrees upon 656 students at 2 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Show Me Center. According to a university news release, Lt. Gen. Clyde Vaughn, retired director of the Army National Guard of the United States and a 1968 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, will deliver the commencement address. Also according to the release, a convocation will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 17 at the Show Me Center to honor 135 undergraduates, 39 students receiving master's degrees and 10 students receiving specialist degrees. Dr. Susan Swartwout will present the convocation address. Swartwout is a professor of English at the university and publisher and editor of the Southeast Missouri State University Press. She is the 2011 recipient of the university's Faculty Merit Award and the 2011 Provost's Research, Instruction and Development for Excellence Award.
