South Old Orchard Road in Jackson will be closed Monday due to engineering work that will include drilling operations. South Old Orchard Road in Jackson will be closed Monday due to engineering work that will include drilling operations.

According to a news release issued by the Public Works Department, the work is planned at the Williams Creek Bridge on South Old Orchard Road. The section of roadway between Bainbridge Road and County Road 306 will be closed between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The road will be closed to all but local traffic during this planned engineering work, the release said.

The release said that through traffic will be detoured around the work site. From the intersection of Bainbridge Road at South Old Orchard Road, drivers will go north on South Old Orchard Road, east on East Main Street/LaSalle Avenue, south on Veterans Memorial Drive and west on County Road 306 back to South Old Orchard Rd. From the intersection of South Old Orchard Road at County Road 306, the previous direction of the detour route is reversed.

Motorists are asked to use caution at all times along the detour route and to obey all warning signs. For more information, contact Rodney Bollinger, director of Public Works, at 243-2300.
