One man was sentenced to prison and another awaits sentencing in a Bollinger County shooting case.
Robert Keller Morgan, 24, and his father Robert Edward Morgan, 58, both were facing charges after the March shooting of the son's wife in rural Bollinger County.
Robert Keller Morgan pleaded guilty May 15 to a reduced charge of resisting or interfering with a felony arrest. He was sentenced to four years in state prison, to run concurrently with four years he received for violating his probation, for assisting Robert Edward Morgan after the shooting of 31-year-old Nichole Morgan.
Robert Edward Morgan was originally charged with first-degree assault with serious physical injury, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and two counts of child endangerment. He pleaded not guilty July 11 to second-degree assault; the other charges against him were dismissed. He was found guilty and will be sentenced Aug. 1 before Judge Benjamin Lewis.
The two men were charged after a March 26 shooting.
Bollinger County Sheriff Darin Shell said at that time that a 911 call was received about 9 p.m. from Nichole Morgan's stepfather, who said she had been shot in the stomach by her father-in-law, Robert Edward Morgan, during a dispute he was having with her husband, Robert Keller Morgan.
Nicole Morgan survived her injuries.
