SOAPBOX DERBY DEADLINE NEARS FOR KIT PURCHASES

The deadline for purchasing a car for the St. Francis Medical Center - Rotary Club Soapbox Derby is March 10.

This deadline has been set so the sponsoring organizations have time to order and assemble the cars, said Cape Girardeau Rotary Club derby chairman Chap Arnold.

"There's probably about a thousand parts per car," said Arnold.

Children between the ages of nine and 16-years-old who wish to drive a car in the race can still be accommodated after the deadline, pending availability. Last year, the local derby had 54 participants.
