Snow, sleet possible tonight in Southeast Missouri

Up to an inch of wintry precipitation is expected to blanket Southeast Missouri tonight, but it will not be around long thanks to upcoming higher temperatures, the National Weather Service says.

Either rain and snow or sleet and snow are expected to fall between 6 p.m. and midnight, meteorologist Jayson Wilson said. Due to conflicting precipitation models, Wilson said he is unsure what exactly the mix will be.

"It will definitely be a little bit of wintry precipitation," Wilson said. "We're just not sure what."

Whatever falls, it won't be around for long, Wilson said. Tuesday is expected to be sunny with a high of 41, while Wednesday's high will be 51. Highs will remain in the low 50s for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service's seven-day forecast.
