"I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream" is the title of a song first published in 1927. The words and music are by Howard Johnson, Billy Moll and Robert A. King. That song also became a college cheer.
Even if people did not have access to real ice cream, they learned to create their own version when snow fell in the wintertime. Recipes may be found online. Or maybe you have a recipe that has been passed down from one generation to another in your family. Here is one recipe:
Step 1: Combine all of the ingredients into a glass bowl. (Do not use a stainless steel bowl because it warms too quickly and the product melts.)
Step 2: Using a hand mixer, beat until the mixture comes together. As it warms, the mixture will start to look more like soft-serve ice cream.
NOTE: In the days before hand mixers, people did the job using large spoons or whatever utensil was available. Also, other types of flavoring can be used as substitutes for vanilla.
One very important thing to remember is to not use yellow snow, especially if you have a pet dog or other animals around the property.
