After two weeks of ice covering the ground, Southeast Missouri and parts of Southern Illinois got a nice powerdering of fun winter precipitation.

An inch of snow fell in Cape Girardeau and Marble Hill, Mo., Sunday morning, covering cars and trees with a light dusting before turning into rain when it reached the Tennessee and Kentucky borders, according to the National Weather Service.

The snow quickly melted from roads and sidewalks, and with temperatures warming up to the 50s Monday, more should melt, said Mike York, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Paducah, Ky.

A cold front moving into the area Monday will bring thunderstorms in the evening. Tuesday is expected to be windy and colder with some more snow.

"It should be no more than a few flurries," York said. "We're not expecting any accumulation."

For the first Sunday in two weeks, no weather warnings have been issued for the start of the week in Missouri.
