KELSO -- James M. Smith of Kelso has received his Eagle Scout award.
Smith has been a member of Troop 29 of Scott City since 1987. He now serves as senior patrol leader of Troop 29 under scoutmaster Danny Smith.
He has earned 26 merit badges and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. He has also receive the Ad Altari Dei religious medal.
For his Eagle Scout service project, Smith and his fellow scouts spent 68 hours painting a well building and fire hydrants in Kelso.
In addition to Boy Scouts, he is a member the St. Augustine Catholic Church CYC. A freshman at Scott City High School, Smith is also a member of SADD and the show choir.
He is the son of Danny and Nadine Smith of Kelso.
